It’s Thursday, which means we have another staff profile! Today, we feature Jennifer Nettell!
-What do you do on campus?
I am an instructor in the Digital Marketing Program. Prior to the Marketing Program I taught in the Business Management Program. I have really enjoyed each program and I can be inspired by variety and change. I have taught day classes, night classes, face to face, IDL, online and now using Collaborate. Each method has helped me grow in my teaching and has allowed me to connect with a variety of students that I may not be able to reach in just the traditional format.
-Where is your favorite place at Western?
My favorite spot at Western is between the Business Education Center and the Integrated Tech Center. There is this beautiful space outside to sit and enjoy some sunshine (even on cold days) and I love the way you can see the whole campus when you look all the way down towards Coleman. Certain times of the day this can be a wonderfully busy space and other times it is very peaceful.
-What are your hobbies?
I enjoy all activities outside. Snowshoeing and Cross-Country skiing in the winter and hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming in the summer. I have only been in La Crosse a few years, so I am continually finding all of the beautiful spots to hike in the area.
-Advice for students?
My advice to students is based on this really great quote from Jim Rohn that I use in class. “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”. I use this quote to remind students that college can be a time to build new relationships, make new friends, find others with common interests, seek mentorships and just really do a hard look inside. When you surround yourself with others who are like-minded and looking to achieve, you too will be inspired to push forward.
Thank you for sharing, Jennifer!
