Western Announces Passing Of Vice President

Cherrie Bergandi

With great sorrow, Western Technical College President Roger Stanford announces the unexpected passing of Vice President of Academics Cherrie Bergandi.

Bergandi, 57, was visiting family in Atlanta when she experienced a medical emergency yesterday. She passed away at a local hospital in Georgia.

Bergandi joined Western in August 2017. Prior to that, she worked at Chippewa Valley Technical College as the dean of General Education.

“I worked with Cherrie for 12 years at CVTC, before she came to Western.” said Stanford. “She was a talented leader and a close personal friend of mine. To say she will be missed is an understatement.

“Once we work through the initial shock of the situation, we will begin to deal with the implications for the college,” continued Stanford.

Bergandi recently moved to La Crosse from the Eau Claire area with her husband, Chaz.
