Staff from Western Technical College reviewed portfolios of cadets from Wisconsin’s Challenge Academy at Western on Friday, Nov. 22.
Cadets were assessed on whether they meet the course competencies for Western’s Professionalism and Success course. If they demonstrated their knowledge, cadets were granted three college credits. Western staff will conducted campus tours throughout the day.
The Wisconsin Challenge Academy is an alternative education program designed for at-risk youth to provide values, skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to succeed as adults. In August of 2018, Western and the Wisconsin Challenge Academy announced a new educational partnership, providing college credit upon completion of the Challenge program. The agreement is made possible through Western’s Credit for Prior Learning program, where students earn education credit for real-life experiences.
