The Sustainability Institute announced today the rebranding of its MPower Business Champions program to SUSTAIN: La Crosse, to better reflect evolving needs in the 7 Rivers Region.
SUSTAIN: La Crosse is designed to provide businesses and other organizations in our region with inspiration, tools, and networking in order to better implement sustainability initiatives. SUSTAIN: La Crosse takes advantage of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, 17 interconnected goals that organizations throughout the world are working to achieve by 2030, as a framework for helping local organizations align their efforts to the rest of the world.
“This is a new approach for us and our region,” said Casey Meehan, Sustainability Coordinator at Western Technical College and director of the Sustainability Institute’s SUSTAIN: La Crosse. “What is great about the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals framework is that it shows how, when done mindfully, action towards one goal, like alleviating poverty, helps us achieve the other goals, like making cities more resilient, protecting our ecosystems and promoting decent work for all.”
SUSTAIN: La Crosse will continue to offer cohorts for businesses and organizations looking to address their environmental footprint, with an added focus on clean water and sanitation. The first cohort begins Sept. 24. Organizations interested in participating should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.sustaininstitute.com for more information.
