Sustain-a-palooza A Success Despite Snow

News

The snow didn’t stop Western Technical College students from hosting the Sustain-a-palooza event on Wednesday, April 10.

The event was a collaboration with students from Western’s Landscape Horticulture, Early Childhood Education, Computer Support Specialist and Business Management programs. In addition, Hillview Urban Agriculture, YWCA, and Western’s own Sustainability department assisted with the event as well. Students provided hands-on activities, educational games, plant seed giveaways, and a tree planting demonstration. In addition, the event hosted a recycling drive for tennis shoes, mascara wands, and colored markers.

“Sustainability is such an important part of the educational experience at Western,” said Genevieve Mortenson, Western sustainability assistant and organizer for the event. “This event incorporated many different students in an effort to make our community more eco-friendly for all.”

Thank you to everyone who participated!
