Western Technical College and various local employers hosted a Construction and Apprenticeships Career Fair on Thursday, Feb. 14 at the Lunda Center.
Twenty employers, including JF Brennan, Tradesmen International, and Mathy Construction, were on hand to speak with students about construction and apprenticeship opportunities. In addition, interested individuals were able to connect with local unions and learn more about the process to become an apprentice.
“There are great careers in the construction industry including opportunities to secure apprenticeships where you can earn while you learn,” said Barb Kelsey, manager for Career Services at Western. “This event allows individuals to meet with employers throughout the region looking to hire roofers, carpenters, HVAC technicians, welders, mechanical designers, equipment operators, general laborers, office support and other positions related to the construction industry.”
Western also had faculty on hand to speak about the various training programs offered within the construction and trades industry.
The event was free and open to the public. Thank you to everyone who attended!
