Western Technical College students and staff members will be volunteering at several Salvation Army bell ringing sites as part of their annual Red Kettle campaign on Friday, Nov. 16.
Bell ringing sites include several Valley View Mall locations, Festival Foods and Shopko stores. Western employees or students will work in teams, working two-hour shifts at a location.
“Attending college is not just about the academic experience inside the classroom,” said Kari Reyburn, Community Engagement coordinator at Western. “We hope this opportunity will teach our students and staff the importance of being civic-minded, while giving back to our most vulnerable populations.”
All money raised through bell ringing will go to the Salvation Army to fund programs that aid La Crosse area community members. Programs include emergency shelter provisions, food pantry and meal programs, and various financial assistance services.
