We have another staff profile! Today, we feature Bob Smith!
-What do you do at Western?
I am the program chair and primary instructor for the Fire Protection Technician associate’s degree program. In addition to teaching degree seeking students, I occasionally work with local industry and volunteer fire departments with training. I work primarily out of the Sparta Public Safety Training Center, however, I can occasionally be seen wandering the La Crosse campus.
-Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place at Western is our new burn tower. The training that can be done in that building is endless, and it makes setting up and conducting drills not only educational, but extremely enjoyable.
-Do you have any hobbies?
I have many hobbies including gardening, fishing, camping and cooking. However, most of my free time recently has been in restoring my newly acquired 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible.
-Advice for students?
My advice for students is simple. There are very few things in life that cannot be accomplished with hard work and the right attitude.
