Western Technical College hosted an open house for its new Learning Commons on Thursday, Oct. 11.
The Learning Commons, formally known as the library, was recently remodeled this summer. Private study areas have been updated and improved, and full-time academic support staff in health science, math, and communication skills, which were previously housed in a separate space on campus, are now located in the new space.
Interested individuals were able to tour the facility the day of the event, with staff on hand to answer questions.
“Libraries have changed,” said Juan Jimenez, associate dean of General Studies at Western. “They have become more of a community gathering space. They are the heart of the community. We are hoping this space becomes the heart of campus.”
The event was well received by everyone. Thank you to everyone who attended!
