Approximately 170 students in the Goal Oriented Adult Learning (GOAL) program at Western were honored at a graduation ceremony last Thursday at the Lunda Center.

Participating graduates included High school Equivalency Diploma (HSED), General Education Development (GED), Adult High School and Alternative High School.

The ceremony featured student speakers Fred converse, Michael Gallegos, and Nikki White. Keith Lease, a former HSED graduate and current instructor at Western, presented the keynote address.

“You have experiences that those who follow the map can’t touch with a 10-foot pole,” said Lease, during the speech. “Those are things that make us stronger, that teaches us empathy and understanding.”

Western offers GOAL programs in eight locations throughout the college’s district. Additional services offered through Western’s Learner Support and Transition Division include English Language Learners classes (ELL), development courses prior to post-secondary training, test preparation, basic skills/review, and high school credit courses.

Congratulations to all involved!
