With just a few games remaining until the end of the regular season, Western’s basketball teams are trying to end their seasons on high notes.
The men’s team lost to Minnesota West 87-78 on Saturday in Worthington. Western was down ten in at halftime, but couldn’t come back. Joshua Brownlee lead the Cavaliers with 24 points and six rebounds. With the loss, Western falls to 6-17 overall and 3-7 in conference. Western’s next game is at Minnesota State Fergus-Falls tonight at 7:30 p.m. Following tonight’s games the remaining three games will all be played at home.
The women’s team lost to Minnesota West 80-51 on Saturday as well. Lexy Schroeder lead the team with 19 points and eight rebounds. Standout star Kerrigan Lyga was held to 8 points and 4-15 from the field. The loss puts the team at 5-16 overall and 4-6 in conference. The women’s team also plays tonight at 5:30 p.m. against Minnesota State Fergus-Falls.
