Athletics Update 2-1

Both Western’s basketball teams have been improving steadily throughout the season.

The women’s team defeated Riverland CC 80-36 Wednesday night at Austin. Kerrigan Lyga once again lead the Cavaliers with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Lyga was 9-14 from the field. The Cavaliers have been on a roll lately, winning three out of the last four games. The team is 3-4 in conference play and 4-14 overall. They next play at Anoka-Ramsey CC on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

The men’s team lost to Riverland CC 96-83 on Wednesday. Joshua Brownlee lead the team with 23 points. Kadar Farah also provided 18 points. Henry Berry lead the team on rebounds with 11. The Cavaliers were down 24 at the half, but outscored Riverland by 11 points in the second half. The loss puts the team at 3-4 in conference and 6-14 overall. They next play at Anoka-Ramsey CC on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
