Western Technical College was recently awarded $20,000 in scholarships from Trane® as part of a continuing educational partnership.
The partnership, which also includes Western’s Trane Center of Excellence, allows students at Western to work with state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and software from Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and a brand of Ingersoll Rand. The equipment, located within the Integrated Technology Center, provides students hands-on experience within the classroom, which means graduates are better prepared as they enter the workforce.
“We are thrilled that this relationship between Western Technical College and Trane can continue,” said Patti Balacek, dean of Workforce and Economic Development at Western. “This scholarship money will help students continue to learn while fulfilling our commitment to our community and the surrounding businesses by meeting the growing demand for skilled workers.”
“Talent development, attraction and retention are one the most important goals for Trane,” said Pete Freiberg, facility manager at Trane. “Welding, machine operations and service technicians are well paying careers in high demand. The shortage of these advanced manufacturing skills is in conjunction with an area unemployment of less than 2.5 percent. Trane supports training and educating these career opportunities with hope that Western Technical College students consider working in one of these career paths in their future.”
We are happy to continue this relationship!
