Athletics Update: 1-25

Western’s basketball teams were back in action this week in Minnesota.

The men’s team defeated St. Cloud Technical CC 77-65 on Wednesday. The Cavaliers lead by five at halftime, and pulled away in the second half. Leading the Cavaliers was Joshua Brownlee with 25 points. Brownlee was 9-15 from the floor and 7-11 from the 3 point line. Kadar Farah lead the team with 11 rebounds. The win puts the Cavaliers at 5-13 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Their next game is at Ridgewater at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

The women’s team also defeated St. Cloud Technical CC 60-53 on Wednesday. Western actually trailed by four at the half, but outscored the Cyclones by 11 in the second half, including 24 points in the fourth quarter. Lexy Schroeder lead the Cavaliers with 20 points. Casey Moger lead the team with 9 rebounds. With the win, the Cavaliers move to 3-13 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Like the men, the women’s squad will be at Ridgewater at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
