Athletics Update: 1-17

Athletics

Conference play is underway for both Western’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The men’s squad lost to Anoka-Ramsey CC last Wednesday 78-66. Western was up 38-35 at the half, but was outscored 43-28 in the second half. Kadar Farah lead the Cavaliers with 17 points.

The Western men also lost to Rochester CTC on Saturday 102-55. Kyle Siberz lead the Cavaliers off the bench with 15 points. The loses put the Cavaliers at 0-2 in conference and 3-12 overall. Western next plays at Minnesota West tonight at 7:30 p.m.

On the women’s side, the Cavaliers lost to Anoka-Ramsey CC last Wednesday 63-49. Western was leading 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but was outscored by 15 the rest of the way. Casey Moger lead the Cavaliers with 11 points.

The team also lost to Rochester CTC on Saturday 90-51. Kerrigan Lyga lead the Cavaliers with 14 points. The loses put the Cavaliers at 0-2 in conference and 1-12 overall. They next play Minnesota West this evening on the road at 5:30 p.m.
